About Mrs. Cheek
I graduated from South Stokes in 1989. As a member of the Walnut Cove community all my life and a mother of two teenagers, I understand the importance of providing high-quality educational experiences for students that provide a wealth of knowledge and opportunities for students as they prepare for fulfilling careers and productive lives. I truly enjoyed my time at South Stokes as a student and feel very fortunate to now serve as an administrator in the South district helping prepare students for the future.
I received a bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in counseling from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I also completed a post-master's certificate in advanced school counseling and school administration at UNCG. I received my Specialist in Education (ED.S.) degree from UNCG in the spring of 2016. I have been fortunate to spend all of my professional career in Stokes County. I first served as a school counselor at King Intermediate School and then King Elementary for nine years. I then moved to South Stokes where I worked for 10 years as a counselor helping high school students achieve academic success and set post-secondary goals. I became Assistant Principal at South in 2014 and enjoyed working with the staff to provide rigorous, relevant learning opportunities in a safe and orderly learning environment. Upon Mr. Kirkpatrick's retirement in December, 2015, I was named Principal at Walnut Cove Elementary. I truly believe that learning never ends. I am thankful for the educational foundation Stokes County Schools provided me and continue to actively seek out opportunities to learn and grow both personally and professionally. I know firsthand how great our students, parents, staff, and community are and am excited to join the Walnut Cove Elementary Family. I know that together we can ensure Walnut Cove's students shine! |
